Laser hair reduction is a great way to remove unwanted hair on the body. And while most of us start to think about hair reduction when the weather is warm and we begin to wear less clothing, winter is actually the best time for laser hair reduction.

Laser hair reduction involves a series of three to twelve sessions, spaced about a month apart. Many patients decide to begin in the cold months so that their treatment is finished in time for tank tops and shorts.  Some clients choose to treat the entire body but the most popular treatment areas are face, bikini, legs, underarms, and chest.

After each session, you may experience redness and scabbing. The treatment area may look and feel as if it was sunburned. Winter is a great time to heal from laser hair reduction as you can typically cover the treatment area with clothing. You should also avoid direct sunlight to prevent temporary changes in the color of the skin. Before your laser hair reduction treatment, it is best to avoid tanning or using sunless tanners for at least a month. The skin should be as light as possible at the time of treatment, another great reason to undergo laser hair reduction during the winter.

Additionally, some hair regrowth will occur, especially after the first treatment or two. Though you can cut, trim, or shave regrowth hair, you will need to let it grow a few days before your appointment.

If you’ve been considering laser hair reduction, now is a great time!
