The most telltale sign of aging is loss of volume to the face – particularly the cheeks, lips, and in wrinkles and lines. Injectables are a great way to restore volume and youthfulness to the face, making you appear younger and more vibrant.

To most people, dermal fillers and injectables are interchangeable – but different brands and types actually have different outcomes. When should you use Botox, Juvederm or Restylane Lyft? That depends on your desired results.

Botox

Botox is different than most injectables. Instead of adding volume, it temporarily paralyzes muscles that cause wrinkles. By selectively weakening the proper muscles, Dr. Jamie Moenster and Dr. Christopher Weyer can soften or remove these wrinkles. The results are dramatic but it does not radically change your facial appearance.

Hyaluronic Fillers

Juvederm Injectables are sterile gels consisting hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance found in the skin. Juvederm has several types of injectables on the market:

  • Juvederm Volbella XC adds subtle volume to key areas of the lips, as well as minimizing the appearance of vertical lines (pucker lines) around the mouth.  Juvederm Volbella achieves a more subtle appearance than many other fillers because it uses a different type of hyaluronic acid solution. By making the HA particles smaller, Volbella can add precise volume that doesn’t look overly augmented or artificial.
  • Juvederm UltraPlus XC adds volume to lines and folds of the face and to the lips. It contains hyaluronic acid gel to retain more moisture, creating a plumper yet natural-looking pout.
  • Juvederm Vollure XC addresses the deep folds that stretch from the nose to the corners of the mouth using a thick hyaluronic acid to “plump” up the depressions. The end result is a smoother, younger-looking appearance for up to 18 months. Juvederm Vollure XC contains lidocaine to help manage discomfort.
  • Juvederm Voluma XC adds volume to the cheeks in order to improve facial contours.  Juvederm Voluma is meant to correct wrinkles and lines around the cheeks, as well as provide youthful-looking lift and subtle correction.  Juvederm Voluma XC is made of a thicker hyaluronic acid gel, which helps augment the cheeks and maintain results. Juvederm Volluma XC last for up to 24 months.
Your Guide to Injectables

Restylane Lyft is used exclusively to add volume and definition to the cheeks and mid-face area. By smoothing smile lines and filling hollow cheekbones, Restylane Lyft gives patients a younger appearance, more natural features, and a fuller face.
