Bellafill

Are you developing “smile lines” and wrinkles on your face that are prematurely making you appear older? Do you have acne scars that have plagued you since your adolescent years? If you said “yes” to either of these questions, then you will want to hear about the amazing benefits of Bellafill treatments.

What Is Bellafill?

Bellafill is an FDA approved dermal filler that stimulates collagen growth long term and helps to maintain a more youthful appearance for up to 5 years. It is primarily used on the face to smooth smile lines but is also very effective at treating acne scars.

How Does Bellafill Work?

Bellafill contains tiny “microspheres” of polymethyl methocrylate which are suspended in a collagen gel base. This combination of materials is injected beneath the wrinkles or scars. Once in the layers of your skin, those microspheres, which are not absorbed by your body, stimulate collagen production and then act as a base or scaffold on which your own collagen then develops. This base that is formed by the Bellafill ingredients is the platform that then enables your body to keep producing collagen and filling out your wrinkles by adding volume to your skin long term.

When treating acne scars, Bellafill adds volume to them by being injected under the scarred areas and by bringing them up to the level of the surrounding skin, improving the texture and smoothing the acne scars for up to one year.

Am I A Good Candidate For Bellafill?

Both men and women who want to rid themselves of smile lines and signs of aging can benefit from Bellafill treatments. If you have tried other temporary fillers and are tired of having to have repeated treatments every 3-6 months, then you would greatly benefit from this long term solution. People who have scars from acne can also benefit from Bellafill, which reduces the look of acne scars for up to one year.  You may not be a candidate for Bellafill treatments if you have chronic skin infections of certain allergies. Bellafill is also not recommended for areas with very thin skin such as the crow’s feet that develop around the eyes.

How Long Does A Typical Treatment Take?

One month prior to your actual treatment, your physician will do a skin allergy test to make sure that you are not sensitive to bovine collagen. Once it is established that you do not have allergies to the treatment, you will schedule an appointment that takes approximately 15-20 minutes. This time can vary based on individual needs. Most patients see immediate results after one treatment, but an additional treatment may be need 3 to 6 weeks later depending on the desired results.

What Results Will I See?

Most patients see immediate results in the smoothing of smile lines. Because this filler actually stimulates your body’s own production of collagen, patients will also see the effects of that activity over the course of the next several weeks. Patients being treated for acne scarring will also see some immediate results as well as this continued improvement due to their body’s own collagen production.

Is There Any Downtime?

There is absolutely no downtime with Bellafill treatments. Patients have reported redness, swelling, lumpiness or slight pain at the injection sites which generally subsides within 1 to 7 days.  Other side effects are rare. This means that patients can return to their daily activities immediately after their treatment.

If needles aren’t your thing, you can now opt to use our new anesthesia option called Pronox to help with any discomfort you may experience. Pronox is a patient-controlled inhaled analgesia that takes effect in seconds and immediately relieves anxiety and discomfort.
