What Is CO2RE Laser Resurfacing?

CO2RE Laser Resurfacing is a one-treatment procedure that uses a laser to improve skin tone and texture through skin resurfacing. This treatment reduces the effects of sun and aging, smooths out fine lines, wrinkles, surgical scars, and acne scars. It improves coloration, dull tone, and helps restore a thinning collagen layer.

How Does CO2RE Laser Resurfacing Work?

CO2RE Laser Resurfacing works by removing layers of skin tissue in a fractionated method. Essentially, the laser make tiny holes in the skin to create micro-columns of controlled damage in the skin. For increased comfort furing treatment, patients can now opt to use a new anesthesia option called Pronox. Pronox is a patient-controlled inhaled analgesia that takes effect in seconds and immediately relieves anxiety and discomfort. This action stimulates the body to heal itself with new, healthy skin and collagen.

The unique thing about the CO2RE laser is that it can be customized to different depths of penetration to treat the different layers of the skin. Once the healing begins, patients will see an improvement in skin coloration, reduction of age spots, reduced appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, and an improvement in skin tone and texture.

Am I A Good Candidate for CO2RE Laser Resurfacing?

If you have fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, acne scars, irregularly pigmented skin or loose skin, you are a good candidate for CO2RE Laser Resurfacing.  This treatment is generally suitable for all skin types but is not recommended for women who are pregnant.

What Results Will I See?

Patients who elect to have the CO2RE Laser Resurfacing treatment will see:

  • A reduction of age spots
  • A reduction of fine lines and wrinkles
  • A reduction in the appearance of acne scars and surgical scars
  • Improved skin tone
  • Improved skin texture
  • Less sagging due to the stimulation of new collagen growth

Is There Any Downtime?

With the CO2RE Laser Resurfacing treatment there will be approximately 7 – 14 days of downtime. After the treatment, patients report a burning sensation similar to a severe sunburn for a few days. During that time, patients will use a special recovery balm and will want to rest indoors.  The skin will be raw for several days, but by day 7-10 patients are able to use makeup if they venture out into public. It is advised that patients avoid scheduling special events for 2 weeks after the treatment to give the skin time to heal. The skin will be sensitive for 1 to 3 months and during that time patients are asked to follow a specific skin care regimen and avoid prolonged sun exposure.
